Jakarta Capital City will soon be equipped with 17 artificial islands that stretches along the Bay of Jakarta as far as 32 km. The existence of this project will require a lot of soil and sand material to build a new island to a total of 5,100 hectares.
Head of Sub Directorate of the Directorate General of Urban Spatial Ministry of Public Works (PU) Eko Budi Kurniawan mentioned, there are a number of options mentioned in planning the expansion of 17 artificial islands.
“Our initial proposal would bring sand from the island of Sumatra. We take sand from there to the island reclaimed 17, “says Eco last weekend.
