TEMPO.CO, Bekasi – Head of Bekasi Environment Control Agency (BPLH), Dadang Hidayat, has confirmed wastes flushed into Bekasi River by 18 production plants are safe for environment.
“The result of the sample test that we performed shows that the wastes are still in accordance with quality standard, therefore there is no problem to dispose the wastes into Bekasi River,” said Dadang in Bekasi on Saturday, as quoted by Antara news.
The 18 production plants are located along Bekasi River startinng from Pondok Gede Permai (PGP) residential area up to downstream Pucung Bay.
“These wastes are first processed to neutralize substances that are harmful for environment before being disposed into the river,” Dadang added.
“If it is not pre-processed and not in accordance with the quality standard, we will take strict action.”
“There is a law regarding the environment, we will report it to the police to be followed up according the the existing regulation,” Dadang assured.
