Six Corporations Ignore Call from the City Council

Palangkaraya, Ekuatorial – Eleven corporations involved in the land burning in Central Kalimantan, but only five meet the call from the Commission B of City Council (DPRD) of Central Kalimantan for a joint meeting due to uncontrollable haze, Monday (14/9).

The eleven companies are PT Kresna Agrokencana Sakti and PT Indo Sawit Jaya of South Barito, PT Rota Jona Lestari and PT Harapan Subur Lestari of Katingan, PT Mulia Sawit Agro Lestari Sawit Agro Lestari from Gunung Mas, PT Nusantara Sawit Persada, PT Globlindo Alam Perkasa of East Kotawaringin, PT Natai Sawit Perkasa of West Kotawaringin, and PT Ahmad Saleh Perkasa, PT Salonok Padang Mas and PT Rimba Harapan Sakti of Seruyan.

Those who attended are PT Nusantara Sawit Persada, PT Ahmad Saleh Perkasa, PT Mulia Sawit Agro Lestari and PT Rimba Harapan Sakti. Including Regent of Seruyan Sudarsono, Regent of Gunung Mas Arton Dohong, Director of the Special Criminal Investigation from Local Police of Central Kalimantan Anton Sasono, Head of Central Kalimantan Plantation Agency RawigRambang, Head of Central Kalimantan Environment Agency Mursid Marsono, and several members from Commission B of Central Kalimantan City Council.

Chief of Environment Agency of Central Kalimantan, Mursid Marsono, said that some of company land has been sealed by a team of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MoEF). “They already put police line, but until now there’s no follow-up,” he explained.

According to Mursid, this time, the investigation team of civil servants from MoEF was in South Sumatra, he cannot ensure the current situation. “We also did not have enough employments. Only two investigators. For the expert witness to investigate fires, we ask through the center of MoEF,” he added.

Meanwhile, President Director of PT Persada Nusantara Sawit, Teguh Patriawan said no fire in their plantation area. According to him, they already told that the fires caused by fire from outside the concession area.
