Jakarta, Ekuatorial – Geospatial Information Agency in Jakarta, yesterday (25\/8) launched the participatory mapping application. The application is designed with a very user-friendly interface, it is expected to invite community participation independently.

Elements that are accommodated through this application will be verified and used as part of the official government datasets. Participatory mapping initiative aims to build up a map that has the authority to claim land in the forest area through innovative geospatial analysis.<\/p>\n
Further, he explains that this initiative strongly associated with government efforts to accelerate the inauguration limits administration and the limits of the area of forests. “Big have drafted protocol and procedure for mapping participatory, to ensure compatibility with One Map Movement,” he added.<\/p>\n
The head management agency of REDD+, Heru Prasetyo welcomed this launch as well as marking this two institutions cooperation in participatory mapping. He said that the launch was one effort to transparency and public involvement in succeed the One Map Movement.<\/p>\n
“Community participation is one of the keys to the success of REDD+ Movement, While One Map Movement is the construction of infrastructure for that purpose,” said Heru.<\/p>\n
Further Heru explained that with a strong baseline and appropriate spatial planning, will ensure the integrity of public policy where the element of openness makes this map be effective to use.<\/p>\n
“Application is open to the whole community, and it is expected that indigenous people can also use it as fully as possible to map out the areas of custom,” said Heru.<\/p>\n
