Jakarta, Ekuatorial<\/strong> – U.S. government was said to be ready to assist Indonesia imposing moratorium on fishing license, said Robert O. Blake, U.S. ambassador to Indonesia after the meeting with Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF), Susi Pudjiastuti, in Jakarta, on Thursday (6\/11). <\/p>\n

“We will work together in law enforcement and increase water police capabilities. We also focus on mangrove conservation because it’s crucial for fisheries,” said Blake adding they were committed to help Indonesia in handling illegal fishing and marine conservation. <\/p>\n

In addition, Pudjiastuti also met Canadian ambassador which discuss research and technology cooperation on marine ecological use for medical and beauty products. “These meetings discussed efforts to strengthen bilateral relations, also map out steps for comprehensive partnership in marine and fisheries sectors for both countries,” she said. <\/p>\n

Furthermore, she said all countries have same interests over Indonesian seas which made conservation efforts and sustainability must be implemented for marine management. <\/p>\n

She added supports from international world over Indonesia’s target to improve its marine sector came from Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam, the People Republic of China, Thailand, Australia and Norway.<\/p>\n

“We can implement sustainable marine management and its impacts can be felt by people especially fisherman. Besides, the moratorium will earn respect for Indonesia [from other countries] for implementing sustainable marine management,” she said. Januar Hakam.<\/strong><\/p>\n
