“We suspected that there was a grant from Germany for US$9 million dollars or Rp 111 billions which had been agreed by the governor for carbon compensation,” said Director of Indonesian Forum for the Environment chapter Aceh, Muhammad Nur to ATJEHPOST.co, in Banda Aceh, on Monday 5 January 2015. <\/p>\n

Nur said that the eviction was related to carbon so Aceh administration was selling Leuser at carbon market with foreign country. Meanwhile, Zaini administration is not focusing with Leuser. The situation is much different compare to then Aceh Governor Irwandi Yusuf. During his time, he said, government was led to climate change issues. <\/p>\n

“Up to date, the concept of people protection in Leuser areas is not clear. The Aceh government has no concept on the issue whatsoever,” said Nur adding that if there was any grant then Aceh government did not receive it fully as there were cuts from central government and mafia.
