According to Communications Coordinator of BOS Foundation in NyaruMenteng, Monterado Friedman, dense haze during last week threatened hundreds of Orangutans in the quarantine. <\/p>\n

“Until now no one has been treated to Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI), but reflect on the previous year this is usually seen one month later,” said Monterado, Tuesday (89). Due to the haze of forest fires last year, there were seven Orangutans treated by ARI and some other eye infection. Meanwhile, in 2010 there were at least 20 Orangutans were treated by ARI.<\/p>\n

As an anticipation, as long as the haze still dense, BOS Foundation reduced the activity of “forest school”. Originally it started at 7:00 to 16:00, now limited from 8:00 to 15:00.<\/p>\n

The purpose of the “forest school” is to train basic skills to young Orangutan, as a condition so that they can be released into native habitat.<\/p>\n

Monterado said, food and beverage of Orangutan also offset. They also maintain that the fire not to spread to the Arboretum area in Nyaru Menteng, Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan. <\/p>\n
