The Cirata solar plant, according to the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, is the largest in Southeast Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>President Jokowi said during the event that it was a historic day for Indonesia as the country is well on its way to realizing one of its dreams: to have a large-scale <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ekuatorial.com\/en\/2023\/09\/part-2-indonesia-trails-behind-renewable-energy-push-in-china-and-india\/\">renewable energy<\/a> plant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;And we built one of the largest floating solar power plants in Southeast Asia and number three in the world,&#8221; said Jokowi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the inauguration, the Cirata power plant immediately began operation, feeding into the Java-Bali power grid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cirata is one example of a critical renewable energy project in Indonesia. It reflects the shift towards clean and sustainable energy sources to address climate change and environmental issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project, which is included in the <a href=\"https:\/\/setkab.go.id\/en\/indonesia-completes-161-national-strategic-projects-in-8-years\/\">National Strategic Project<\/a> (PSN), has a capacity of 145 MWac or the equivalent of 192 MWp and occupies a 200-hectare reservoir area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the inauguration, Acting West Java Governor Bey Machmudin accompanied President Jokowi, along with Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif. He was also joined by Minister of State-owned Enterprises Erick Thohir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-renewable-energy-source\">Renewable energy source<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>President Jokowi added that the Cirata solar plant can be maximized to 1,000 MWp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The hydropower could contribute to green energy. I am also happy and proud that the Cirata Floating Solar Power Plant has been completed. That&#8217;s the result of cooperation between the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of State-owned Enterprises, PLN, and <a href=\"https:\/\/masdar.ae\/en\/our-company\/about-masdar\">Masdar<\/a> from the UAE,&#8221; Jokowi said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is estimated that by 2025 this project will contribute 23 percent to Indonesia&#8217;s clean energy mix.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>West Java is relatively progressive with regard to the utilization of renewable resources, as seen from the achievement of the share of new renewable energy in the province&#8217;s primary energy mix (25.81 percent in 2022) which exceeds the target of 20 percent in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator
