More than 90 million tons of sludge piled up threatened Kendari bay of Southeast Sulawesi, says a scientist on a ,recent discussion held in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi. Without proper treatment, the sludge will lead to sedimentation of the bay and destroy its ecosystem. Ecologist La Ode Alwi of Haluoleo Kendari University said that there should be an integrated regional regulations between Kendari city, Konawe and South Konawe administrations as they have contributed to the sedimentation.
