The number of people taking refuge from flooding in Greater Jakarta may be a lot higher than the official figure, with middle- to upper-class residents turning to hotels and apartments for shelter. Local chain Tauzia Hotel Management, which operates Harris Hotel in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, experienced an increase in its occupancy rate when flooding inundated the residential area.
