High Degradation along Watersheds in Lombok and Sumbawa

Destruction to critical lands along the watersheds in Lombok dan Sumbawa has been rated high. Destruction on the Lombok Island reached 71.59 percent and on the Sumbawa Island reached 70.09 percent. The rate of erosion risk of watershed in the province of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) classified as severe, spread on 85.52 percent of the watershed area in Lombok and 80.99 percent of the watershed area in Sumbawa.

Project Leader of WWF Indonesia Programme Nusa Tenggara Muhammad Ridha Hakim explained the critical condition of watersheds in the NTB, “It must be wary,” he said.
