Most areas of Merauke was used for Integrated Food Program acreage And Energy Estate (MIFEE). Forest area in the region will be cleared in order to be used as a large-scale plantation and agriculture. Data from the Investment Development Agency of Merauke District shows that there are currently 35 companies are actively proceeding, whereas the majority of companies that have already passed the licensing deadline and has been canceled.
