Water Pollution in Rancaekek West Java Exceeds the Capacity

Rancaekek district in West Java, experienced a water pollution that already exceeds the capacity of Cikijing river which headwaters is in Sumedang and its downstream in Bandung regency, since the development of the textile industry. Locals complained contamination occurred in 4 villages, namely village Jelegong, Bojongloa, Linggar and Sukamulya, District Rancaekek, which is thought to be caused by wastewater discharges from these industrial activities. Minister of Environment, Prof. Dr. Balthasar Kambuaya MBA also plans to sue the companies for dumping waste and polluting Citarum watershed.
