Thousands of miners of Pidie District staged a protest refusing gold mining sites shut down by Aceh governor Zaini Abdullah, on Saturday (30/8). Traditional miners coming from Tangse, Mane, and Geumpang sub districts insisted that that their activities have nothing to do with recent fish deaths in several Aceh rivers.
