30 Companies Investigated Over Haze in Riau

Pekanbaru, Ekuatorial – Riau Police investigated 30 companies due to land and forest fires in Riau Province. “There are 30 companies being investigated due to land and forest and fires. Now, we can’t mention the names of these companies,” said police’s special crime investigation unit deputy chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Ari Rahman, Thursday (17/9).

Between January 1 to September 17, 2015, police have collected 46 suspects over forest fire case that caused dense haze in Sumatra. In detail, the five suspects from Bengkalis, four suspects from Siak, eight suspects in Pelalawan, five suspects in Rokan Hilir, a suspect in Meranti Island, two suspects in Dumai, two suspects in Kampar, five suspects in Rokan Hulu, and the company executive handled by special crime investigation unit (Direskrimsus).

“21 cases have been declared complete, the two cases in stage one and 17 cases in the investigation process,” said Riau police’s head of public relations, Adj. Sr. Comr. Guntur Aryo Tejo.

Yesterday, Riau Police confirmed Frans Katihokang, operations manager of LIH as a suspect over 530 hectares of land fires. He was arrested in TikulimaJorong village, Agam, West Sumatra.

“As operations manager, he does not know his job. They also do not have the adequate extinguisher. There is only a few robin that is not proportional to their land area,” said Adj. Sr. Comr. Ari Rachman. Winahyu
