UN Secretary General António Guterres speaks at the opening plenary of the UN Ocean Conference in Lisbon.

The United Nations holds its second Ocean Conference, this time in Lisbon, Portugal. (The first was in 2017 in New York City at the UN Headquarters.) The second Conference was delayed for two years because of the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, and this week it is finally taking place. The Conference is attended by leaders from 140 countries and involves hundreds of events taking place over the week. The goal is to agree on the solutions and act to protect the Ocean. Indonesia will bring some solutions to the conference, one being to reduce ocean pollution.
