BKSDA face difficulties to reveal death of elephant in Aceh Jaya

Aceh Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) and the police have difficulties investigating the death of 12 years old elephant.

Head of Aceh BKSDA, Genma Suhefi Hasibuan, said the case of dead elephant in Aceh Jaya had already being investigated by authorities.

“We have given the case to Aceh Jaya police for further investigation,” said Genman to Atjehpost.co, on Friday, 5 December 2014.

Furthermore, he said that they were having difficulties to reveal the death of the 12 years old elephant. It is because BKSDA could not have complete autopsy as the elephant’s organs have badly damaged.

“Preliminary result through physical assessment, the elephant was killed because of electrocution. It was proven from several woods tied to electric cables. But, we couldn’t find any cables there,” he added.

He also added that the female elephant was found with her stomach cut open and all of her inner organs have melted. “We suspected that the elephant was killed by electrocuted because villagers have been complaining that their plantations being damaged by elephants,” he said.
