Andi Fachrizal, familiarly known as Rizal Daeng, started studying journalism at the Campus Newspaper (SKK) PROFESI IKIP Makassar. He then dedicated himself as a journalist in various local and national media since 1998, including Harian Jurnal Nasional (correspondent), Mongabay Indonesia (contributor), and finally founded the news site www.kolase.id in Pontianak, West Kalimantan. Rizal is author of a book entitled "Merawat Muller dari Desa Tanjung" and also co-wrote and edited a number of other books. He is listed as Chair of the Pontianak Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI) MPO for 2020-2023 and Chair of the Supervisory Board of The Society of Indonesian Environmental Journalists (SIEJ) for the 2022-2025 period.
