Finlan Aldan is a freelance journalist who focuses on the intersection (and conflict) between nature and humans. Among the stories he has written in the past are the encroachment of oil palm plantations into elephant habitats in Riau (Garda Animalia), the conversion of productive agricultural land due to urban development in Yogyakarta (Project Multatuli), and the exchange of yams, roots, and tubers in Indonesia during Dutch colonialism (Tirto). Aside from narrative journalism, Aldan explores other storytelling formats including narrative journalism, data visualization, and photo stories.
