Karin Lin was born in Tanjung Karang, Bandar Lampung on April 17 and completed her undergraduate history studies at the University of Lampung in 2009. Karin started her journalistic career by interning at a local newspaper in Bandar Lampung in 2010-2011, doing news reporting. At the same time, she wrote columns for a local newspaper in the same city. In January 2015, Karin was diagnosed with autoimmune SLE (lupus). Her health condition motivated her to research autoimmune diseases and other health topics. In 2022, she won a number of health-related scholarships or grants. Karin continues to deepen her knowledge and understanding of health issues to improve her reports. She is now a freelance journalist based in Jakarta, Indonesia.
